Agartala 12 November, 2024: Yesterday, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized that the development of tribal communities remains a top priority for the government. The administration is committed to providing the best facilities and quality education to students from remote tribal areas. Speaking at an event organized by Samagra Shiksha, Tripura, at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for 10 hostels in various schools under the PM Janman Project. This initiative spans six blocks across four districts in the state.
The Chief Minister highlighted that PM Janman is a visionary project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at uplifting tribal communities across India. Since taking office, PM Modi has prioritized the development and advancement of tribal populations, ensuring government support reaches 22,000 tribal-dominated villages and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) in 200 districts across the country through the PM Janjatiya Adhikar Mahabhiyan (PM Janman). The Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is dedicated to fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision, which was inaugurated on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas last year.
The Chief Minister also pointed out the significance of developing the northeast region for India’s overall progress. He praised PM Modi’s commitment to tribal welfare, noting milestones such as the election of Droupadi Murmu, a tribal woman, as President of India, and the appointment of Tripura’s royal family member Jishnu Dev Varma as the Governor of Telangana. He expressed optimism that Tripura would emerge as a gateway to Southeast Asia, with improvements in connectivity and infrastructure supporting the region’s growth.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Santana Chakma, echoed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, highlighting that the state government, under Dr. Saha’s leadership, is guided by the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” working to ensure tribal communities advance alongside others. She expressed hope that Tripura would continue to progress and bring forward those in disadvantaged communities.
Minister for Tribal Welfare, Bikash Debbarma, noted that the day marked a historic moment for tribal welfare in the state. The government is actively working on multiple initiatives for tribal education, healthcare, and overall community welfare. The event also featured a welcome address from N.C. Sharma, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, with other dignitaries including L. Darlong, Director of SCERT, in attendance.
