On November 8, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized the importance of sports in maintaining both individual health and societal well-being while inaugurating the Kashbeswari Knockout Football Tournament. The event was held at the Madhupara High School grounds in Bishalgarh subdivision. Dr. Saha highlighted that sports are crucial for both physical and mental health and are a key focus for the state government, which is investing in sports infrastructure to promote a healthier, more active generation.
The Chief Minister emphasized that sports foster positive development among youth, and that the government is committed to supporting this with new sports facilities across Tripura. As part of this event, Dr. Saha also inaugurated an indoor gymnasium at Madhupara High School, constructed with MLA Area Development Funds at a cost of INR 12.63 lakh.
He further highlighted the government’s recent initiatives, such as setting up synthetic football and athletic fields statewide, opening 42 gyms to support fitness for all ages, and enhancing local fields to meet national competition standards. The Chief Minister also spoke about initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Talent Search and Talent Award to encourage students to excel in sports and other fields, urging parents to support their children’s involvement in sports.
Guest of Honor MP Rajib Bhattacharjee praised the role of sports in Indian heritage, commending the central and state governments’ efforts to enhance sports development. MLA Antara Sarkar Deb gave the welcome address. Before inaugurating the football match, the Chief Minister met with players from both teams.
Among the dignitaries present were Sipahijala Zilla Parishad President Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Sushanta Deb, Sipahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, and Superintendent of Police B.J. Reddy.
