Khowai 2 November, 2024: A district-level discussion on tobacco control was recently held at the Khowai District Administration conference hall, chaired by Khowai Zilla Parishad President Aparna Singh Roy (Dutta). In her address, President Aparna Singh Roy emphasized the need to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and called for widespread campaigns.
Resource person Dr. Arup Raybarman and DPM of the District Health Office, Pronay Kumar Debbarma, elaborated on the tobacco control laws. The meeting was attended by Khowai Zilla Parishad members Soma Debnath, Champaklata Rudrapal, Vijaya Debbarma, and Umashukla Baidya, as well as Additional District Magistrate Sumit Kumar Pandey, Khowai Health Association official Sujit Ghosh, DSP Binoy Kumar Gop, and district-level officials and staff from Education, Health, Police, and Sports departments.
