Tripura Film and Television Institute: A Source of Pride for the State – Chief Minister
Agartala, October 29, 2024: Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI) has emerged as a source of pride for Tripura, a cultural milestone many never imagined possible for the state. Due to the state government’s dedicated efforts and support from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, such an institution has become a reality in Tripura, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha. He made these remarks as the Chief Guest during the certificate distribution ceremony held today at Nazrul Kalakshetra, marking the completion of various TFTI courses for the 2023-24 academic year.
Certificates were awarded to 53 students who completed training in TFTI’s Screen Acting, Script Writing, and Digital Editing courses. Addressing the event, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that Tripura, with its vibrant mix of cultures and communities, has no shortage of talent. He expressed hope that TFTI graduates will carry forward the state’s rich heritage and culture. He also extended his gratitude to the visiting faculty from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute for nurturing local talent.
Dr. Saha added that TFTI currently offers seven short-term courses, with plans underway to expand into diploma and degree programs to establish the institute as a comprehensive institution. The state government covers 90% of the course fees, providing significant support to students.
Secretary of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, remarked that TFTI was inaugurated on November 28, 2022, and currently offers seven short courses: Screen Acting, Film Appreciation, Production Management, News Anchoring and Reporting, Script Writing, Digital Editing, and Sound Recording. He announced that courses in Digital Cinematography and Film Direction would be introduced soon. Dr. Chakraborty also shared that the government, in collaboration with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, plans to enhance TFTI further, including appointing a consultant and identifying land for the institute’s dedicated facility.
Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute Acting Director Samiran Dutta also addressed the event. The Director of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, Subrata Chakraborty, were present at the ceremony. Following the program, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha personally handed certificates to the graduating students.
