Kamalpur 23 Oct, 2024: Under the directive of the Kamalpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate, the sub-divisional administration, in collaboration with the Legal Metrology and Food Department, conducted a surprise raid in the Kamalpur market this evening. The team, which was accompanied by local police, inspected several sweet shops, restaurants, and grocery stores for compliance with regulations.
During the raid, the officials discovered domestic LPG cylinders being illegally used in commercial establishments. As a result, the cylinders were confiscated on the spot. The team also visited various grocery stores to check if expired items were being sold. However, no expired goods were found.
One of the primary targets of the raid was the illegal use of plastic bags. Despite efforts to locate them, no plastic bags were found in the market, leading officials to suspect that merchants had been alerted beforehand and removed them.
Deputy Collector (Magistrate) Bijay Mohan Tripura, who was part of the operation, confirmed that a total of five gas cylinders were seized. He also stated that legal action would be taken under relevant sections for the unauthorized use of domestic LPG cylinders in businesses.
