Agartala, 18th October: A tragic incident unfolded in the Nagichhara Kalidas Para area under Srinagar Police Station, where two young girls lost their lives by drowning. The victims have been identified as Pinky Das (9) and Urmila Marak (10), both residents of Nagichhara Kalidas Para. The unfortunate event took place while they were bathing in a local lake.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the two girls went to bathe in the lake. After they failed to return home for a long time, their families began searching for them. It was during this time that one of the girl’s bodies was spotted floating in the water, raising concerns among the locals. Immediately, Srinagar Police and the Anandnagar Fire Service, along with local residents, launched a search operation and soon recovered the second girl’s lifeless body.
The bodies were rushed to Anandnagar Primary Health Centre, where the attending doctor declared both girls dead. The news of their untimely death has cast a shadow of grief over the entire area.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Srinagar Police rushed to the scene. They later revealed the identities of the victims. Pinky Das, daughter of Shankar Das, originally from Kailashahar, was residing in Nagichhara Kalidas Para with her family. The second victim, Urmila Marak, was the daughter of Rajen Marak, also a resident of the same locality. The police stated that both girls drowned after venturing into the deep waters of the lake.
