Khowai, Oct 15: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted on the day of Nabami Puja, sparking tension in the East Ganki area of Khowai. Police arrested the accused, identified as Akash Deb, a resident of North Durganagar.
According to police sources, the incident took place on the evening of Nabami, when Akash allegedly kidnapped the girl from Khowai town. The following morning, the girl’s family lodged a complaint at the Khowai Women’s Police Station, accusing Akash of abduction. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police launched an investigation and traced the accused.
Late Monday night, police arrested Akash from the Agartala area and rescued the minor. Both the accused and the victim were brought to Khowai Women’s Police Station this morning. Akash has been charged under relevant sections, and the police produced him before the Khowai District Court today.
