North Tripura, 14 October 2024: Following the unrest in Kadamtala, despite multiple peace meetings, fear continues to grip the local community, and many shops in Kadamtala Bazaar have yet to fully reopen. Adding to the tension, misleading videos and rumors are being spread on social media, further complicating the situation. In response, a new committee named “Kadamtala-Kurti Nagarik Manch” was formed on Monday, 14th October 2024, to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
The committee, consisting of 33 members, was officially formed at the South Kadamtala Community Hall around noon. The members include Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Bidhabhusan Das, Kadamtala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jayanta Debnath, Churaibari Police Station OC Khokon Saha, Panchayat Samiti members Hasim Talukdar and Jaharul Haque, former chairman Subrata Deb, and community leaders such as Gias Uddin Chowdhury, Fakhr Uddin, Ustar Ali, Hiralal Nath, Subhasish Sengupta, and Rasamay Nath.
The event witnessed strong support from both Hindu and Muslim community leaders, all committed to maintaining peace and solidarity in Kadamtala. They also urged the police to take stringent action against those spreading false rumors and creating confusion.
OC Jayanta Debnath of Kadamtala Police Station assured that with the cooperation of both communities, decisive action would be taken against those attempting to disrupt peace in the area.
