Mumbai, 13 October 2024 : Siddique, a former Maharashtra Minister and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was allegedly shot dead on Saturday (October 12, 2024) outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Neelam Nagar, Mumbai.
According to the sources, the firing occurred around 9:30 pm on Saturday outside the office of his son Zeeshan Siddique, MLA from Bandra East when he was leaving his son’s office and was entering his car.
Baba Siddique, 66, was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital where he was pronounced dead during the treatment due to multiple injuries leading to excessive blood loss, around 11:25 pm on Saturday night.
According to Mumbai Police, the assailants fired around six to seven bullets at Mr Siddique, of which two bullets hit him in the chest and one in the abdomen. The Mumbai Police have identified and detained two individuals, one from Haryana and the other from Uttar Pradesh, while the third person is said to be absconding. The case has been taken over by the Mumbai crime branch for further investigation.
Mr. Siddique was elected as a Congress MLA thrice, in 1999, 2004 and 2009 from the Bandra West constituency. Mr Siddique was known not only for his political acumen but also for hosting lavish parties. Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra,Salman Khan and Zaheer Iqbal made their way to the hospital to pay their last respects to Baba Siddique.
