Agartala 13 Oct, 2024: In a shocking incident in Amtali, a husband brutally murdered his wife and mother-in-law in Hapania’s ONGC Netaji Nagar area, near the first gate opposite side. The incident occurred at the in-laws’ residence of Samratjit Choudhury, where his wife, Tanushree Acharya, lived with her parents.
According to reports, the tragedy unfolded early yesterday morning around 4 a.m., shortly after Tanushree and her mother, Soma Acharya, returned home from a Durga Puja visit. Samratjit allegedly launched a deadly attack on his wife with a sharp weapon. When Soma tried to intervene to save her daughter, she too was fatally attacked, receiving grievous injuries to her neck.
Both mother and daughter died on the spot. Following the heinous crime, Samratjit fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police in Madhupur late last night. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to piece together the events leading up to the murders.
Dr. Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police for West Tripura district, provided details about the case, assuring the public that justice will be served.
