Agartala, 05th October 2024: In a serious incident in the capital, two traffic police officers were publicly threatened with death, leading to swift action by the authorities. West Agartala Police have arrested Deep Datta, a resident of Arundhutinagar, in connection with the incident at Netaji Chowmuhani.
According to Kiran Kumar K, Superintendent of Police (West District), the incident occurred in the busy Netaji Chowmuhani area, where three youths were reportedly involved in harassing two on-duty traffic police officers.
The incident quickly gained attention after a video recording went viral on social media platforms, prompting authorities to take swift action. A case, numbered 2024 WAG 117, has been filed at West Police Station under U/S 132/351(2)(3)/3(5) of the BNS, along with Section 3(1)(r)(s) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. While Deep Datta has been apprehended, two other accused remain at large, and a search operation is ongoing. Kiran Kumar emphasized that authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, and further legal actions are anticipated.
