Agartala, Oct 3: In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, a law and order meeting was held today at Muktadhara Auditorium. The meeting, organized by the West District Police Administration, focused on ensuring a peaceful and smooth festival.
West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar K, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisara Bhattacharya, along with officials from various departments, presidents, and secretaries of several clubs and Puja committees, attended the meeting.
The meeting was initiated by Additional Superintendent of Police Chiranjib Chakraborty, who urged Puja organizers to strictly follow government guidelines. Dr. Vishal Kumar expressed optimism that this year’s Durga Puja would be joyous with the cooperation of the district administration, police, concerned departments, and clubs. He also encouraged people to call the CM Helpline 1905 for any assistance during the festivities.
Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar K sought the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful celebration and emphasized the importance of having adequate volunteers at the Puja pandals. He also reminded organizers to adhere to the 14 guidelines set by the state government.
Bimbisara Bhattacharya, Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, informed that the Maayer Gomon procession will commence from Maharani Tulshibati Higher Secondary School premises on October 14. Clubs and Puja committees wishing to participate in this event must submit applications, either online or offline, by October 7. He also mentioned that the state government awards ‘Sharad Samman’ in four categories across districts, including West Tripura.
Dr. Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board, stressed the need to follow noise pollution guidelines during the festivities. Additionally, Dr. Shankar Das, Joint Director of the Health Department, urged clubs to organize awareness programs on HIV/AIDS prevention during the Puja, suggesting the display of relevant slogans at the pandals.
The meeting also saw participation from Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar Maniklal Das, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation Subrata Banik, and Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Maniklal Das.
The district authorities remain committed to ensuring that the festivities are conducted peacefully, maintaining law and order, and promoting public awareness.
