Agartala, Oct 3: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Khowai Police, under the #NashaMuktTripuraAbhiyaan initiative, successfully intercepted two separate drug consignments today. The operations underscore the state’s ongoing fight against the drug menace.
In the first operation, Mungiakami Police, acting on a tip-off, seized 9,775 bottles of Phensedyl and Eskuf syrup from a truck passing through the area. The truck, intercepted near Mungiakami Police Station, was carrying the contraband in a concealed section beneath a load of stones. The driver and co-driver were immediately arrested, and a case was registered at Mungiakami Police Station.
In another significant operation, Khowai Police intercepted a vehicle at Cherma Naka Point and recovered approximately 50 kilograms of dry ganja. The contraband was skillfully hidden in a secret chamber within the vehicle. The operation led to the seizure and subsequent registration of a case at Khowai Police Station.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha praised the relentless efforts of the police, commending their dedication to the Nasha Mukt Tripura Abhiyaan. He reiterated his government’s firm stance against the drug trade, ensuring that law enforcement will continue to strike hard at the root of the problem. “The police are doing an exceptional job, and we are committed to making Tripura a drug-free state,” Dr. Saha stated.
The coordinated efforts by the police have once again proven vital in curbing the supply of illegal substances in Tripura, bringing the state closer to achieving its goal of being drug-free.
