Agartala, Oct 3: Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir, one of the state’s prominent educational institutions, hosted the Bhavan’s Olympiad award distribution ceremony today at its auditorium in Narsingarh. The event saw the presence of esteemed guests, with Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports, Social Welfare, Social Education, and Labour Department, Shri Tinku Roy, gracing the occasion as the chief guest. He was joined by Bhavan’s Vidya Bhavan Agartala Centre Chairman and retired IFS officer Shri Debashish Chakraborty, Vice Chairman Shri Tapan Lodh, and the school’s Principal, Smt. Swapna Som.









The event began with a warm welcome of the guests by the students, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Minister and other dignitaries. A tribute was paid to the institution’s founder, K. M. Munshi, and late director Professor Kashinath Das, as floral offerings were placed in their honor.
In her welcome speech, Principal Swapna Som expressed her gratitude to everyone for their continuous support. The Bhavan’s Olympiad, which began in 2014 as a dream project of Professor Kashinath Das, has grown significantly. What started with the participation of students from only two schools has now expanded to include 32 schools across the state, with 7,509 students competing this year in four categories: BMO, BSO, BEO, and BCO.
Awards were presented to top-performing students, with three students scoring 100% receiving ₹5,000 and gold medals. Additionally, 56 students who scored between 95% and 99% were awarded ₹1,000 and gold medals. A total of 310 students received gold medals, 270 received silver medals, and 280 received bronze medals. The principals and advisory teachers from various participating schools were also honored with gifts as tokens of appreciation.
The ceremony featured a cultural program by the students, captivating the audience with their performances. In his speech, Minister Tinku Roy praised Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir for its dedication to fostering academic excellence and applauded the students for their achievements.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Principal Smt. Pompi Majumdar, who expressed her appreciation to all those who contributed to making the event a success. The national anthem marked the end of the award distribution ceremony, leaving everyone in attendance with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
