Khowai, Sept 21: In order to maintain peace and security in the area, restrictions have been imposed on public movement within 500 meters of the India-Bangladesh border in Khowai Subdivision, under Khowai District. These restrictions will apply between 8 PM and 5 AM daily and will come into effect from September 26, 2024, remaining in force until November 24, 2024. The District Magistrate of Khowai has issued this order under Section 163 of the Bangladesh and North Eastern States Security Act (BNESS), 2023.
However, certain exceptions will apply, including members of the military, paramilitary forces, state police, individuals with valid permits issued by the District Superintendent of Police or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Khowai, government employees engaged in emergency duties, and individuals requiring urgent medical attention.
Violations of this order will lead to punitive action under Section 163 of the BNESS, 2023, as stated by the Office of the District Magistrate, Khowai.
