Festivities at Mandai Khorang Community Hall
Mandai, West Tripura, July 4, 2024: The West District Monsoon Festival and Forest Festival were celebrated today at Mandai Khorang Community Hall. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Information and Culture and the Mandai RD Block. The celebration began with the acting Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Haridulal Acharya, ceremoniously watering a sapling.
Significance of the Forest Festival: Commitment to Greenery
In his inaugural speech, Haridulal Acharya highlighted the importance of the Forest Festival, stating, “Our goal through this festival is to create green forests. Planting trees ensures a healthy and beautiful environment. Monsoon and forest creation are complementary, essential for the survival of civilization.”
He urged everyone to engage in large-scale tree planting to maintain a healthy environment.
Celebrating the Joy of Monsoon
The Monsoon Festival was a welcoming gesture towards the rainy season. Pinthu Debbarma, a member of the West District Cultural Advisory Committee, remarked, “Monsoon Festival exemplifies our deep connection with nature.”
Other notable speakers included Additional BDO of Mandai, Pujan Sen, and social worker Ajit Debbarma. Amrit Debbarma, Assistant Director of the West District Office of Information and Culture, delivered the welcome address.
Captivating Cultural Performances
Local artists presented captivating cultural performances, adding a special dimension to the event. Artists from the Rangamati Drama Center staged a play focused on tree planting, which enthralled the audience.
Message of Environmental Awareness
At the festival’s conclusion, all speakers emphasized the necessity of environmental protection and the importance of tree planting. They called on the local community to plant more trees and be conscious of preserving natural resources.
