Agartala, June 27, 2024 — The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the state government’s actions, signaling potential plans to contest the upcoming panchayat elections independently. In a statement made today, TMP leader Pradyot Kishore DebBarma suggested that the party should prepare to face the panchayat elections on its own.
Deb Barma’s remarks came amid growing frustrations over the state government’s alleged failure to uphold prior agreements. State President B.K. Hrangkhawl echoed these sentiments, asserting that the government has not honored its commitments. “The agreement with the state government is being ignored, leaving us with no choice but to consider going solo in the panchayat elections,” Hrangkhawl stated.
Despite these developments, the BJP has yet to provide any formal communication to the TMP regarding the panchayat elections. This uncertainty is driving the TMP to consider independent candidacy as they push for proper representation and adherence to democratic processes.
The TMP’s stance highlights their growing impatience with the current political arrangement and underscores their readiness to assert their political agenda in the forthcoming elections.
