The Sandan newspaper article, published today on June 27, 2024, titled “Locked Outdoors for Three Days,” has been addressed by the Family Welfare Department. They have clarified that the news is incorrect.
According to the department, on Friday, June 21, and Sunday, June 23, 2024, the hospital’s exterior was closed as per government regulations, but the emergency casualty department remained operational 24/7 for urgent care. The hospital has two dressing rooms—one external and one next to the doctors’ room in the emergency area. The dresser responsible for the external room was on leave due to a broken arm, but essential dressings were still performed by other staff as needed.
For ECG services, the hospital has a technician who works three days a week at the Shantirbazar district hospital. During his absence, trained nursing officers in the emergency department conduct ECGs. Regarding the reported shortage of doctors, this is a statewide issue, and the state government is actively recruiting doctors, including specialists and super specialists. The Bilonia Sub-Divisional Hospital currently has 8 specialists and other medical staff who continue to serve diligently.
