Tripura 15 March, 2024: In Baijalbari area, the police recovered 151 kg of dry cannabis during a search on Friday morning. Based on tip-off, a lorry (number JK 02AR 3044) was intercepted during the ongoing Naka checking operation led by Police Baijalbari outpost OC Ripon Uchai. The driver and co-driver have been arrested and the vehicle is in police custody.
During the search, 96 packets of cannabis were recovered from the back of the lorry. At the time of the incident, one driver was based in Bihar and the other in Uttar Pradesh.
The driver has been arrested after preliminary police investigation and the police will start investigation proceedings during the trial of the main accused.
Regarding the incident, Khowai district Additional SP Prabir Paul said in an interview, “We are conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident and the main accused has been arrested.”
As a result of this incident, the police have recently become more cautious and proactive about the drug trade.
