According to Police Superintendent Bhanupad Chakraborty, the value of the recovered cannabis in the black market is estimated to be around forty lakhs. The driver of the vehicle has been detained in connection with the case.
The seizure was made during a surprise raid at noon today on a truck with registration number NL01AJ5879. The truck, which was empty except for twelve wheels, was transporting 39 packets of dried cannabis. In total, 263 kg of cannabis was confiscated by the police.
The arrested individual has been identified as Narayan Chandra Sarkar (64) from the Edinagar area of Churaibari police station. It is believed that he was intending to transport the cannabis from Agartala to Gauhati, outside the state borders.
Superintendent Chakraborty stated that the street value of the seized cannabis is approximately forty lakhs. A formal case has been initiated against Narayan Chandra Sarkar under relevant sections, and the Churaibari police are conducting further investigations.
