State Cultural Advisory Committee aims to foster local talent and revive classical music
June 28, 2023: During the inaugural meeting of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, expressed the importance of creating a distinct cultural identity for the state. The meeting, held in Mahakaran on Tuesday, saw the Chief Minister emphasizing the abundance of talent among Tripura’s youth in sports and culture. He emphasized the need for a suitable platform to nurture and develop their potential, and the state government has taken initiatives to support and cultivate the talent of its young residents.
The Chief Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the Cultural Advisory Committee in driving cultural development within Tripura. In attendance were Subrata Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary of the Information and Culture Department, Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of the Cultural Department, Tapan Das, Director of the Tourism Department, and other committee members.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced plans to organize cultural programs twice a week in the outer courtyard of the Ujjayant Palace. By inviting artists from outside Agartala to perform, the platform aims to provide opportunities for local artists to showcase their talents. Dr. Saha acknowledged that classical music, once prevalent in the state, has unfortunately faded into obscurity. He expressed a strong desire to revive this genre and restore its former glory.
The State Cultural Advisory Committee, under the guidance of the Chief Minister, will work towards revitalizing Tripura’s cultural landscape. By promoting local talent and nurturing creativity, the committee aims to establish Tripura as a hub of cultural excellence and diversity.
