June 23, 2023: Tripura Olympic Association organized a grand mega rally in celebration of Olympic Day. The event took place on Friday morning in front of the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan. The rally witnessed the participation of nearly 1,500 athletes from various sporting disciplines. It aimed to highlight the importance of sports on the occasion of Olympic Day.
The inauguration of the rally was conducted by the Chief Guest, Mr. B.G.P.-R., the Chairman of the State Gymnastics Association and the President of the State Gymnastics Federation, Mr. Rajib Bhattacharya. Among the dignitaries present were the Minister for Tribal Welfare, Mr. Bikash Debbarma, the Chairman of the State Gymnastics Federation, Mr. Ratan Saha, the Chief Coach of Dronacharya Gymnastics World, Mr. Bishweshwar Nandi, the Secretary, Mr. Sujit Roy, and the eminent gymnast and recipient of the state’s first Arjuna Award, Mr. Montu Debnath.
Chairman Ratan Saha clearly stated that the main objective of the Tripura Olympic Association is to elevate Tripura’s position in the field of sports. He emphasized that the current Olympic Association is determined to discover and nurture more talented athletes from Tripura. The rally traversed through various routes in the city, displaying the vibrant spirit of the event, before culminating back at Rabindra Bhavan.
Secretary Sujit Roy expressed his satisfaction with the success of the rally and reiterated that taking Tripura’s sports arena to new heights remains the primary goal of the Tripura Olympic Association. He mentioned that further plans will be devised in the coming days to propel Tripura’s sporting landscape forward.
