June 21, 2023: In a significant development, the Amatoli Police have apprehended two suspected members of a Pakistani militant organization. Acting on undisclosed information, the police detained Yakub Yajdanbakx and Shahin Mandal on Wednesday morning from the Ashwini Market area. It has been revealed that one of them is believed to have ties to Iran.
During the investigation, the police conducted a thorough search, leading to the recovery of several fake identity cards, including Aadhaar cards and PAN cards, along with a mobile phone. Notably, local residents provided crucial information to the police, as they discovered various photographs and other pieces of information related to a Pakistani militant organization on the suspects’ mobile phone.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Amatoli Police Station, Mr. Nadugopal, have maintained utmost secrecy throughout the interrogation. While one police officer disclosed that a comprehensive investigation is underway against the suspects, no official statement regarding their testimony has been released to the media.
However, there are suspicions among the locals in the Ashwini Market area that the arrested individuals may have been involved in a larger conspiracy as secret operatives of the Pakistani militant organization. The police are carefully examining this possibility.
The arrested individuals will be presented before the West Tripura District and Sessions Court on Thursday. This crucial step is expected to shed more light on the nature of their activities and their potential involvement in any larger conspiracies within the state.
The entire incident has raised concerns about the infiltration of foreign extremist organizations into the country. Law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region, as investigations continue to unfold.
