Belonia, January 25: Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy emphasized the importance of public representatives working for the welfare of the people during a public gathering held at the Sachin Debbarman Auditorium in Belonia. The event was organized to mark the 3rd anniversary of the Belonia Municipal Council.
The Finance Minister inaugurated the newly constructed maternity and child care building at the Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital, built at a cost of ₹5.25 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the new building of the Belonia Higher Secondary Girls’ School, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹8.51 crore.
The event was attended by Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deepak Dutta, Belonia Municipal Council Chairman Nikhil Chandra Ghosh, South Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Smita Mall, South Tripura Superintendent of Police Ashok Sinha, Director of Health Dr. Sanjib Kumar Debbarma, and social worker Dipayan Choudhury, among others. The welcome address was delivered by Belonia Municipal Council’s Chief Executive Officer Debashis Das.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy highlighted the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of its people. He stated, “The government prioritizes infrastructure development in education and healthcare sectors for the comprehensive progress of the state. Initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors are also being emphasized to improve the socio-economic standards of the people.”
The Minister also mentioned that various central and state government schemes are being successfully implemented, helping the people become self-reliant. He pointed out that advanced medical services, including kidney transplants and cancer treatment, are now available within the state. The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission is playing a pivotal role in empowering rural women by supporting self-help groups, with many women achieving financial independence and becoming “lakhpati didis.”
Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, speaking at the event, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a vision for a developed India by 2047. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, the state is working towards building a developed Tripura. Efforts are being made to ensure access to education, healthcare, drinking water, and electricity for every village.”
