Inauguration of Startup Tripura Portal and Fund Distribution
Agartala 24 Jan, 2025: The Government of Tripura is giving top priority to creating employment opportunities for the youth in the state. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized this while launching the Tripura Startup Policy, 2024 at a ceremony held at Pragya Bhavan. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often refers to the youth as one of the country’s greatest assets. The Chief Minister reiterated that if the youth are empowered, the nation will progress rapidly.
In line with this vision, the Prime Minister had launched the nationwide Startup India initiative in 2016, aiming to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. The state government, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, has been working diligently to implement this initiative successfully in Tripura.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that through the new Startup Policy, aspiring entrepreneurs from Tripura will receive financial and other forms of assistance. He expressed confidence that this policy would play a pivotal role in helping the youth realize their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs. Beyond creating employment opportunities, the policy will enable the youth to emerge as job creators themselves.
As part of the launch, the Chief Minister flagged off a promotional vehicle containing detailed information about the Tripura Startup Policy, 2024. The event was attended by Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and other dignitaries.
During the program, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Startup Tripura Portal. In addition, a check worth ₹75 lakh from the Tripura Startup Venture Capital Fund was handed over to the CEO of Agastya Edutech Startup. Eligibility certificates were also presented to I-Logitron Technologies Private Limited and X-Layer Technology Private Limited.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, speaking at the event, remarked that the curiosity and innovation among the state’s youth are commendable. He observed a rising enthusiasm among young entrepreneurs in advancing the startup ecosystem in Tripura. Over the past three years, 127 startups have been registered in the state, and the Tripura Startup Policy, 2024 aims to support these initiatives further.
Key highlights of the policy include providing unemployed youth with an initial capital of ₹2 lakh, a monthly operating expense subsidy of up to ₹20,000, and special provisions for startups led by women and differently-abled individuals. Additionally, the policy offers up to ₹10 lakh for prototyping, ₹5 lakh for marketing support, GST reimbursement, and up to ₹10 lakh for patent filing assistance.
The event also featured speeches by Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the IT Department; Zeya Rogul Geshan B., Director of IT; Pannirselvam Madangopal, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub; and Banitha Venugopal, CEO of Tamil Nadu Technology Hub. Several other dignitaries, including Sepahijala District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, were also present.
