Khowai 9 Jan, 2025: The body of a Bangladeshi citizen recovered from Gournagar in Khowai was handed over by Khowai police to the Bangladesh authorities today at 5 PM through the Khowai Puran Bazar International Checkpost.
On Tuesday morning, an unidentified body was discovered on the veranda of a shop near the Gournagar Panchayat office under Khowai police station. The police transported the body to the district hospital morgue for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the deceased was identified through social media by locals from West Dulna village in the Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj district, Bangladesh. The man was identified as Jahur Ali, aged 55.
Following communication between the Khowai police, BSF, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Chunarughat police, arrangements were made to repatriate the body. After completing the formalities, including investigation and administrative procedures by both sides, the body was handed over to the Bangladeshi authorities in a coffin at the international checkpost.
