Jirania 05 November, 2024: The Institute of Driving and Training Research in Jirania marked a significant milestone today with the completion ceremony of its third driving training batch. Honoring the occasion, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu attended as the chief guest, joined by Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury as a special guest. This batch saw 37 women successfully complete their training, highlighting the institute’s commitment to empowering women through skill development.
In his address, Governor Nannu emphasized that the driving training received by these women is a step toward empowerment, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to society. “Today is a notable day for this institution, as it symbolizes the empowerment of women,” he remarked, adding that this training equips women with job-ready skills, fosters self-reliance, and builds their confidence. He commended the new drivers, expressing hope that their journey would inspire other women to seek independence and professional growth. The Governor also advised the trainees to maintain safety standards and exhibit professionalism in their driving.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the significance of this batch, noting that it comprises only women, making it a landmark accomplishment for the institute, which was established in 2023. “With 45 days of intensive training, these women exemplify our government’s dedication to empowering women in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of female self-sufficiency and strength,” he stated.
The event began with a welcome address by CK Jamatia, Secretary of the State Transport Department. Following the speeches, Governor Nannu and other dignitaries presented the newly trained women drivers with certificates and driving licenses, marking the successful completion of their training. Subrata Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of the Transport Department, expressed gratitude to the attendees, while Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, social worker Gouranga Bhowmik, and the Governor’s Joint Secretary Ratan Bhowmik were also in attendance.
After the ceremony, Governor Nannu toured the institute’s simulator room, where he reviewed the practical training facilities available to the trainees.
