Boxnagar (Tripura), September 8: The second MLA Cup knockout football tournament was inaugurated at the Boxnagar Mini Stadium today. The inauguration was performed by Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, who praised football as the greatest sport among all and highlighted its global popularity.
During his address, the Chief Minister acknowledged the severe impact of the recent floods on the state. He assured that the government is continuously working on relief efforts, infrastructure rebuilding, and restoring normalcy for the affected people. He expressed hope that with the support of the central government and the people of the state, normal life would soon be restored.
At the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister interacted with the players from the first match of the tournament and exchanged greetings with them. A total of 16 teams are participating in the competition. The event was also attended by MLA Taufajul Hossain, newly elected member of the Sipahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, and social worker Subhash Chandra Das.
