Agartala, August 5, 2024: In a significant development for Agartala’s urban infrastructure, Agartala Smart City Limited inaugurated its state-of-the-art data center today. The ceremony was presided over by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, who officially opened the data center located on the ground floor of the IT building in Indranagar.
Distinguished guests, including Abhishek Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development Department, and Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Executive Officer of Agartala Smart City Limited, were present at the inauguration. Following the formalities, the dignitaries toured the facility to gain insights into the services and capabilities of the new data center.
Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav highlighted that Agartala Smart City Limited is the first among all smart cities in India to establish its own dedicated data center. Previously, the Smart City’s data needs were jointly managed with the Department of Information Technology (DIT). The new facility, constructed at a cost of INR 30.72 crore, was completed in an impressive timeline of just two months.
The data center is a critical hub for the city’s technological infrastructure, connecting all Agartala City CCTVs, traffic points, and LED display boards through an extensive network of 156 kilometers of optical fiber. It has the capacity to store all types of data for up to 30 days, with provisions to retain specific data for longer periods if required. The center will operate 24/7, ensuring continuous support and data management for the city’s smart initiatives.
