Agartala 22, November 23: In a groundbreaking move, the 67th National School Games 2023-24 is set to unfold, marking its maiden appearance on the national platform in the state. With an unprecedented participation of over 17,000 young athletes, the competition promises to be a celebration of talent and sportsmanship.
Commencing from November 23 and extending through November 27, the event will be inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, on Thursday. The venue for this sporting extravaganza is none other than the NRCI Indoor Stadium, adding a grandeur to the spectacle.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Tinku Roy, shared insights during a well-attended press conference at the Mahakaran Stadium on Wednesday. He emphasized that the competition would showcase the prowess of 351 participants hailing from all corners of the country. Among them, 174 are spirited young boys, while 177 are determined girls, each prepared to leave an indelible mark in their respective sporting arenas.
Adding to the vigor, 50 dedicated officials have registered to oversee the proceedings, and anticipations are high for additional registrations, as expressed by Mr. Roy. The stringent selection process involved 20 representatives from each state’s School Sports Board, totaling 25 units. The judging panel, consisting of experts from both state and non-state organizations, will play a pivotal role in determining the eventual champions of this prestigious competition.
The heart of the action will be the state-of-the-art NRCI Indoor Stadium, providing a fitting backdrop for the emerging talents to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level. With 25 units in the competition, comprising 18 from the state, 3 from centrally administered regions, and 4 from other organizations, the event is set to be a melting pot of diversity and talent.
