June 23, 2023: In a significant operation led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Eastern Thana and the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sadar, eight drug traffickers were apprehended. The operation resulted in the seizure of 40 grams of brown sugar and two mobile phones. The street value of the confiscated narcotics is estimated to be around three million Taka.
The arrestees were identified as Sunil Debbarma, Suman Mia, and Ibrahim Mia. Sunil Debbarma was captured in the Dhaleshwar area, while the remaining two individuals were apprehended near the Chandrapur Bus Stand. All three suspects are believed to be involved in the illicit drug trade.
The successful operation was conducted based on undisclosed confidential information received by the police. The authorities swiftly acted upon the tip-off, ensuring the swift arrest of the suspects and preventing further distribution of narcotics in the region.
The seized brown sugar and other evidence have been submitted for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation. The police are also actively gathering additional information to dismantle the drug network and identify other individuals involved in the illicit trade.
