Tripura, 09 Oct 2026: On the first day of the TTAADC’s two-day session on Friday, Executive Member Chandra Kumar Jamatia moved a resolution urging the time-bound implementation of the Tiprasa Accord.
The resolution urges the governments of India and Tripura, along with the Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), to implement the Tripartite Agreement signed on March 2, 2024, within a stipulated timeframe, ensuring greater autonomy for tribal areas and protection of the land, language and cultural identity of the indigenous Tiprasa people.
Submitted under Rule 214 of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (Constitution, Election and Conduct of Business) Rules, 1985, the resolution highlights the need to address issues concerning indigenous people’s history, land and political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language through an amicable and time-bound process.
It states that the present TTAADC administration remains committed to protecting the constitutional, political, economic and cultural rights of the Tiprasa people under the accord.
The resolution also expresses gratitude to the people of TTAADC for their peaceful cooperation and support for the Tipra Motha Party in pursuing the accord’s implementation.
It further commits the council to working with stakeholders, civil society organisations and community leaders to safeguard the rights and welfare of indigenous Tiprasa people and other communities while promoting sustainable and inclusive development across TTAADC areas.
