Tripura, 19 August 2026: A social welfare programme was organised today in the Shikaribari area, a hilly settlement located at the foothills of the Longtarai Hills, where food items and educational materials were distributed among poor and underprivileged tribal families.
The initiative was organised by Ambassa-based teacher Swapan Nomo, who regularly conducts such social welfare programmes and extends support to needy families across different remote hilly settlements.
During the programme, rice, pulses and other essential food items were distributed among underprivileged families, while study materials were provided to students.

Students also participated in the social welfare initiative. Teacher Swapan Nomo said he involves students in such programmes with the aim of developing social values, compassion and a sense of responsibility among them.
Speaking about the initiative, Swapan Nomo said that people living in remote hilly settlements often lead their lives amid considerable hardships. He expressed happiness at being able to extend a small amount of assistance to the people of the area and said he would continue to stand by them and extend support according to their needs in the future.
The local residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative and praised Teacher Swapan Nomo for his continued efforts to support needy families in remote areas.
