Agartala, August 19, 2026: Tripura University, a Central University, has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for temporary Guest Faculty assignments across 29 departments and disciplines, with a total of 96 slots available.
The notification was issued on August 18, 2026, by the university authorities. The Guest Faculty engagement will be purely temporary and will generally be for one academic semester or until a regular faculty member joins against the vacant sanctioned teaching post, whichever is earlier. The assignment does not confer any right to claim regular appointment or continuation in the university.
96 Guest Faculty Slots Available
The vacancies are spread across a wide range of academic disciplines. The largest number of positions are available in the School of Education with 12 slots, followed by Business Management with 8, Commerce with 7, Bengali with 6, Chemistry with 5, and Political Science with 4.
Other departments with vacancies include Archaeology and Ancient Indian Culture, Botany, Computer Science and Engineering, Education, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Fine Arts, Forestry and Biodiversity, Geography and Disaster Management, Hindi, Information Technology, Journalism and Mass Communication, Kokborok, Library and Information Science, Linguistics and Tribal Languages, Mathematics, Microbiology, Music, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Rural Management and Development, Sociology, Statistics and B.Voc. (Film and Video Production).
The notification also specifies subject-wise specialisations for several positions. For example, the Computer Science and Engineering slot is for Image Processing and Probability and Random Process, while the Linguistics and Tribal Languages positions are for Core Linguistics/Theoretical Linguistics. The School of Education vacancies cover areas including Education, English, Kokborok, Physical Science, Geography, Life Science, Political Science, Mathematics and History methodology.
Honorarium
Selected Guest Faculty members will be paid an honorarium of ₹1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum of ₹50,000 per month.
Eligibility
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and meet the eligibility criteria prescribed under the UGC Regulations, 2018, along with applicable norms and guidelines issued by the UGC, AICTE, NCTE and Ministry of Education, as applicable.
The university has also stated that superannuated teachers up to a maximum age of 70 years may be considered for Guest Faculty assignment.

The application must reach the university on or before August 25, 2026, by 4:30 PM (16:30 hours).
Candidates applying for more than one department/post are required to submit a separate application form for each post.
Walk-in Interview From August 31
The university will publish the list of shortlisted candidates and candidates found ineligible on its official website. The walk-in interviews are scheduled to begin from August 31, 2026.
Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the interview with their original documents, duly filled-in application form, Curriculum Vitae and self-attested photocopies of the required documents. Candidates are required to report two hours before the interview for verification of original documents.
The university has made it clear that no TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
