Tripura, August 7: The Amarpur Sub-Divisional Administration on Friday held its final preparatory meeting for the 80th Independence Day celebrations, scheduled to be observed on August 15. The meeting took place at the conference hall of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office and was attended by officials from various government departments.
Speaking after the meeting, SDM Pritam Sarkar said that this year’s celebrations will follow the traditional format, with the main event to be held at the Amarpur Higher Secondary School Ground near Chandibari (Mata Mangalchandi Ground). The administration has decided to extend the parade practice by one additional day this year. Parade rehearsals will be held from August 8 to 11, followed by the final rehearsal on August 14. Practice sessions will remain suspended on August 12 and 13 due to the scheduled visit of the Chief Minister to the subdivision.
The Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department has been entrusted with organizing various cultural programmes as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Appealing to the public, SDM Pritam Sarkar urged all residents of Amarpur Subdivision to participate in the celebrations in a peaceful and disciplined manner. He invited people to enjoy the patriotic cultural programmes and assured that the administration would work with public cooperation to ensure the successful conduct of the subdivision-level Independence Day event.
