Tripura, 20 June 2026: A late-night incident at the Forest Department’s Nagarban Park in Gamaibari under Ward No. 15 of Teliamura Municipal Council has triggered controversy and raised questions about security and oversight within the government-managed facility.
According to local residents, a forest guard and several women were detained from a room inside the park during the night. Residents alleged that the park had been used for immoral activities for a considerable period and claimed that the forest guard frequently brought women to the secluded premises.
On Friday night, locals reportedly conducted their own inspection and claimed to have caught the individuals inside the room. Eyewitnesses said the room was found in a ransacked condition, with numerous liquor bottles scattered around the premises.
The incident sparked outrage among residents, who questioned how such activities could allegedly take place inside a government-owned forest park. Senior Forest Department officials later arrived at the scene but reportedly faced public anger. Police from Teliamura Police Station also reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and took the detained individuals to the police station for further inquiry.
The allegations have put the Forest Department’s monitoring system under scrutiny. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter, and further investigation is expected to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
