Tripura, June 17: Demonstrating solidarity and compassion, the Agartala Press Club has extended financial assistance to Ambassa-based journalist Manish Debbarma, who is currently undergoing treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a recent accident.
On Tuesday Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar handed over financial aid to Manish Debbarma’s family and wished him a speedy recovery. He emphasized that no journalist should feel alone during difficult times and assured that the entire journalist community stands firmly beside its members in moments of crisis.
According to Pranab Sarkar, Manish Debbarma suffered severe injuries in a tragic accident and now requires a major and complex surgical procedure to save one of his hands. In response, journalists and media professionals from across Tripura have united to support his treatment.
As an initial step, a sum of ₹50,000 was handed over to assist with medical expenses. Representatives of the journalist fraternity also assured that further support would be provided if necessary, including arrangements for advanced treatment at a hospital in Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Pranab Sarkar said, “We have collectively raised funds and handed over ₹50,000 today. If required, we will also make arrangements to send him to Delhi for treatment. Our goal is to ensure that Manish recovers and returns to his profession. Journalists across the state should know that they are not alone—we stand together and will continue to support one another.”
