Agartala, June 09: The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Tuesday organized a seminar and press conference in Sabroom as part of its 90th Foundation Day observance, highlighting farmers’ issues and the organisation’s future course of action.
The seminar was held at the CITU Sub-Divisional Office hall in Sabroom, where leaders discussed the history, achievements and ongoing struggles of the farmers’ movement.
Speakers emphasized the need for united efforts to protect farmers’ rights and address challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Addressing the seminar, AIKS State Vice-President Narayan Kar and Sabroom Sub-Divisional Secretary Subhash Nath outlined the organisation’s role in championing farmers’ interests over the decades. They stressed the importance of strengthening collective movements to tackle agrarian distress and safeguard the livelihood of farmers.
A press conference was held after the seminar. AIKS State Vice-President Narayan Kar, South District President Mihir Patari and District Secretary Babul Debnath briefed the media on the prevailing agricultural situation and various demands of the farming community.
The leaders also highlighted the organisation’s upcoming programmes and campaigns aimed at addressing farmers’ concerns. They said the observance of the 90th Foundation Day serves as an opportunity to reinforce the organisation’s commitment to protecting farmers’ rights and strengthening its grassroots presence.
The programme conveyed a message of organisational unity and renewed efforts to expand the farmers’ movement in the Sabroom sub-division.
