Churaibari, June 8: A mysterious death near Churaibari Railway Station in North Tripura triggered concern among local residents on Monday morning after the body of a man was found beside the railway track in the East Churaibari Gram Panchayat area.
The deceased has been identified as Raju Miah (35). The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, with police investigating whether it was the result of an accident, suicide, or any other cause.
According to local sources, Raju Miah was originally a resident of Nontaichhara under Bishramganj Police Station. However, following his marriage, he had been living at his in-laws’ house in Churaibari for the past eight to nine years.
Residents alleged that he had long struggled with substance abuse, which often led to family disputes. Some locals also claimed that his name had been linked to various anti-social activities in the area.
Preliminary reports suggest that the incident may have occurred while he was moving near the railway tracks in an intoxicated condition. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
The body was spotted by local residents around 6 a.m. Police from Churaibari Police Station and railway police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the body is expected to be handed over to the family.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s in-laws informed his family members in Bishramganj, who were reported to be on their way to Churaibari.
