Agartala, 31 Dec 2025: Women footballers are now moving shoulder to shoulder with men, proving that they are no less capable in the field of sports. This was stated by Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu while inaugurating a women’s football tournament at the Umakanta Academy ground yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said that such tournaments should be organised regularly to encourage women’s participation in football and sports. He urged the organisers to continue their efforts to promote women’s football in the state.

The tournament is being jointly organised by the Tripura Football Association and the Bikashnath Tarak Bhavan Memorial Trust (BTBM). In the inaugural match, teams from Gomati district and Unakoti district faced each other.
Before the match began, the Governor interacted with the players and officials of both teams and was formally introduced to them. On behalf of Chaudhuri Charan Singh, he also greeted and felicitated the players.

The inaugural programme was attended by Tripura Football Association President Prabir Sarkar, Secretary Amit Choudhury, and BTBM President Prabir Ray, among others. The information was shared through a press note issued by Lok Bhavan.
