Agartala, December 26, 2025: The Government of Tripura has declared December 26, 2025, as a one-day state holiday following the sad demise of Hon’ble Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswabandhu Sen.
According to an official notification issued by the General Administration (Political) Department, the State Government has also decided to observe three days of State Mourning from December 26 to December 28, 2025 (both days inclusive) as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary.

During the mourning period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the State, and no official entertainment programmes will be organised.
The notification further clarified that all State Government offices, including PSUs and all educational institutions, will remain closed only on December 26, 2025.
It has also been announced that a State Funeral will be accorded to the late Speaker on December 27, 2025. His mortal remains are being brought from Bengaluru to Agartala.
The State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the loss and has directed all concerned authorities to take necessary action accordingly.
