Udaipur, December 24: The closing ceremony of the 15-day State-Level Drama Festival was held today at Udaipur Rajbari. The programme was graced by Pranajit Singha Roy, Finance Minister, as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that culture, art, and tradition are symbols of a nation’s strength and must be preserved with care. He stated that such festivals help expand the theatre culture across different parts of the state and strengthen the creative environment for drama and performing arts. He also expressed gratitude to all artists, organizations, and theatre groups associated with the festival for their contributions.
In recognition of special contributions to theatre, Hiradhan Das was felicitated with the Tripura Madhusudan Smriti Award, which included a cash prize of ₹21,000, a memento, and a citation.
Among others present at the programme were Shital Chandra Majumdar, Chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council; Bidyut Sarkar, former minister; social worker Sabita Nag; and other distinguished guests. The welcome address was delivered by Ajay Deb, Joint Director of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs.
The programme was presided over by Debal Debroy, President of the Gomati Zilla Parishad. Notably, 32 theatre groups from across the state participated in this year’s drama festival, making it a significant cultural event in Tripura.
