Agartala: Dec 24. A head-on collision between a scooter and a motorcycle at Jagannath Chowmuhani in Udaipur on Wednesday afternoon left a 62-year-old scooter rider critically injured, triggering panic in the busy area.
The injured have been identified as Babul Dutta (62). According to reports, the accident occurred at around 1:30 pm when a scooter collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Due to the impact, Dutta was thrown onto the road and sustained serious injuries.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured man, initially shifting him to Gomati District Hospital. However, as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to GB Hospital, Agartala, for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle rider, Shipon Mia (20), was detained by Radhakishorepur Police and taken to the police station. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Local residents alleged that despite heavy traffic movement, the Jagannath Chowmuhani area lacks adequate traffic regulation, leading to frequent accidents. The incident also caused temporary traffic congestion, which was later cleared following police intervention.
Investigation is underway.
