Agartala, Dec 23: Preparations are underway for the three-day Alpana Festival and Fair scheduled to take place at Alpana Village from January 13 to 15. The festival is being jointly organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is expected to inaugurate the event on January 13, officials confirmed.

AMC Mayor Dipak Majumdar chaired a preparatory meeting on Monday to review the arrangements. Following the meeting, the mayor visited the proposed fairground and inspected the layout and ongoing preparations.
Speaking to reporters, Mayor Majumdar said the popularity of Alpana Gram has now reached an international audience, with tourists from various countries visiting the location. He added that women of the area are actively involved in the festival preparations to ensure a successful event.
This year’s fair will feature multiple stalls, including those run by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs). A local committee has already been formed to coordinate the festival activities.

Former MLA Dr. Dilip Kumar Das, Mandal President Rajib Saha and several other officials accompanied the mayor during the field visit.
