Agartala, December 23: A job fair was organised on Tuesday at the Shram Bhawan premises, Office Lane, Agartala, under the National Career Service initiative of the Government of India. The programme was conducted by the Model Career Centre and the District Employment Exchange, Agartala, under the Department of Employment Services & Manpower Planning, Government of Tripura.
The job fair was held from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and witnessed enthusiastic participation from unemployed youth across the state. As per official information, a total of 270 candidates are expected to be selected through the recruitment process conducted during the fair.
Speaking to the media, Employment Exchange Officer Asim Saha said that the primary objective of organising such job fairs is to create employment opportunities for unemployed youth in line with the state government’s priorities. He stated that under the initiative of the Model Career Centre (West District) and the Directorate of Employment Services & Manpower Planning, the job fair was organised to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.
He informed that three companies, including two from Tripura and one from outside the state, participated in the fair to recruit candidates against various vacancies. One of the participating outside-state companies, based in Tamil Nadu, has also assured arrangements for accommodation for selected candidates from Tripura.
The participating companies included Axis Max Life Insurance and Satin Creditcare Network Limited, among others. According to officials, more than 600 candidates turned up for interviews against the 270 available posts. Authorities expressed optimism that at least around 250 candidates would secure employment through the fair.
Asim Saha further noted that a small gap often remains between employer requirements and candidate eligibility, but such job fairs significantly enhance employment prospects for youth. He encouraged job seekers to continue participating in these initiatives to improve their chances of securing suitable employment.
The event once again highlighted the role of government-supported employment platforms in connecting job seekers with the private sector and addressing unemployment in the state.
