Agartala: Dec 18. The Udaipur Sub-Divisional Committee of the Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) on Thursday submitted a mass deputation to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Killa block, pressing 11 public-interest demands, including enhanced development in ADC areas, ₹600 daily MGNREGA wages with 200 days of work, inclusion of Kokborok in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, and direct fund allocation to the ADC.
Ahead of the deputation, a large red-flag rally was taken out from Killa Market. The march was led by CPI(M) Central Committee member Naresh Jamatia, Sub-Divisional Secretary Dilip Dutta, and senior leader of the Ganamukti Parishad. After parading through the market area, the rally culminated in a public meeting at Killa.
Addressing the gathering, GMP leader Ananta Jamatia, TYF leader Rajendra Jamatia, CPI(M) leader Naresh Jamatia, and Amrit Sadhan Jamatia, leader of the seven-member deputation team, strongly criticised the state government over what they termed as “misleading narratives on development.” Speakers also accused the Tipra Motha leadership of political flip-flops and played a “hide-and-seek” game with the ruling government.
A notable turnout of people from supporters communities marked both the rally and the public meeting, underlining growing discontent over development, employment, and linguistic rights in ADC areas.
