Agartala: Dec 13. The Tipra Academicians’ Forum (TAF), a non-political and non-religious forum of academicians, successfully organized its 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel Auditorium, here. The AGM witnessed the participation of academicians, scholars, and invited dignitaries from across the state and beyond.
TAF is a national forum comprising Scheduled Tribe academicians serving in the higher education sector as Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors in various institutions across the country. The forum remains committed to the advancement of academic excellence, research, literary engagement, and the promotion of indigenous knowledge systems.
The inaugural session was graced by Sukla Charan Noatia, Minister of Tribal Rehabilitation and Primitive Tribe (TRP & PGT) Department, as the Chief Guest.
In his address, the Minister highlighted the state government’s initiatives towards the expansion of higher education, including the establishment of women’s universities and other key centres of learning in Tripura. He appreciated the role of academicians in shaping an inclusive and progressive educational ecosystem.
Ananda Hari Jamatia, Director, Department of Kokborok and Other Minority Languages, attended the programme as Guest of Honour. He commended the members of TAF for their sustained contributions to academic, literary, and research activities, particularly in the promotion of indigenous languages and cultures.
The session was presided over by Dr. Anjana Jamatia, President, TAF. Other dignitaries on the dais included Dr. Abhijit Debbarma, General Secretary, and Sri Biswanath Debbarma, Convener of AGM 2025.
A key highlight of the AGM was the announcement of the newly elected office bearers for the next three-year tenure. The new executive body comprises Dr. Abhijit Debbarma as President, Dr. Madhusudhan Murasing as General Secretary, Dr. Jekap Halam as Assistant General Secretary, and Sri Prasenjit Debbarma as Treasurer and other members.
The AGM concluded with renewed commitment towards academic unity, knowledge sharing, and collective progress after the post lunch session.
