Tripura, 11 Dec 2025: A young scooter rider lost his life in a tragic accident this evening near the Zonal Office area under Baijalbari Police Station in Khowai district.
According to eyewitnesses, the scooter was travelling at high speed when the rider lost control and crashed into the rear of a petrol tanker. The victim, identified as Goriya Debbarma (23), son of Kishorejit Debbarma and a resident of Chankhola, died due to severe injuries.
Upon receiving information, Baijalbari Police reached the spot, rescued the critically injured youth, and brought him to the Emergency Department of Khowai District Hospital.
The duty doctor said:
“Around 7:15 pm today, a young man named Goriya Debbarma, aged 23, son of Kishorejit Debbarma from Chankhola under Khowai PS, was brought to our Emergency Department. His condition was extremely critical. He had suffered severe trauma. We immediately began treatment and provided all possible medical support. Despite our best efforts, we could not save him.”
Eyewitness accounts indicate that over-speeding was the primary cause of the fatal crash. The tragic death has cast a pall of grief over the Chankhola area.
