Tripura, 11 Dec 2025: A Bangladeshi citizen has been successfully treated at GBP Hospital, Agartala, after arriving in India in a critical condition due to severe complications.
Sahab Uddin (32), son of Anwar Hossain from Khatia Bazar in Comilla, Bangladesh, was suffering from chest swelling, severe abdominal pain, hernia complications, and pitted edema. On 29 September 2025, he came to GBP Hospital’s Gastroenterology Department for medical consultation. After initial evaluation, specialists referred him to the Surgery Department.
On 9 December 2025, following the advice of surgeon Dr. Shudip Pal, Sahab Uddin agreed to undergo surgery. During the operation, Dr. Pal discovered a large polyp in the patient’s colon. Using advanced CT-190 endoscopic equipment, he skillfully performed an endoscopic polypectomy, successfully removing the polyp. The procedure was completed without any bleeding or complications.
The patient is now in stable condition. After observation, he was discharged from the hospital.
Doctors noted that if the polyp had not been removed in time, there was a potential risk of future colon cancer. The medical team assisting Dr. Shudip Pal included OT nurse Pallabi Tonik, OT technician Sumon Kumar Shil, and other skilled staff such as Mini Chakraborty and Bidisha Das Biki.
Local patients often need to pay high expenses for such advanced procedures, but under government facilities, the entire polypectomy was conducted free of cost.
The GBP Hospital authorities and the patient’s family expressed gratitude to Dr. Shudip Pal for his expertise and service. The Health & Family Welfare Department described the success as a significant achievement.
