Agartala, Dec 11: The month-long Unity Promo Fest 2025, held across several districts of Tripura, is set to conclude on December 12 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala. The closing ceremony will feature a live performance by renowned Bollywood playback singer Zubin Nautiyal. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the details during a press conference at the State Guest House on Tuesday.
Festival Aims to Showcase Indigenous Culture
The Tourism Minister said that the festival was named Unity Promo Fest to highlight the harmony among various indigenous communities of Tripura. He said the event has helped bring Tripura’s ethnic culture—its attire, food, lifestyle, and traditions—to the notice of tourists and cultural enthusiasts across India.
He noted that the festival has created new opportunities to promote Tripura’s cultural identity and heritage. “The state government is working continuously to elevate Tripura’s tourism sector. Promo Fest is playing a crucial role in this,” he added.
Major Arrangements for the Closing Ceremony
For the December 12 closing event, the state government has made elaborate arrangements under three categories: VVIP, VIP, and General. Separate entry gates, seating arrangements, and security protocols have been planned.
More than 78 tour operators visited Tripura earlier as part of the festival. For the concluding event, 122 tour operators from different states—including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Assam, Manipur and Mizoram—will be attending. Their participation is expected to boost national-level publicity for Tripura’s tourism potential.
The Minister said, “This festival is helping Tripura emerge as an important tourism destination. Our cultural diversity, heritage, and natural beauty make Tripura special. With the arrival of more tour operators, the state will receive wider national exposure.”
Central Tourism Projects to Strengthen Tripura’s Prospects
Chowdhury added that recent infrastructure projects initiated by the Union Ministry of Tourism in the Northeast will significantly benefit the state. “These projects will support the growth of Tripura’s tourism industry,” he said.
He also noted that Tripura’s hospitality, safe environment, and pleasant weather will encourage more foreign and domestic tourists to visit in the coming years.
Security & Traffic Arrangements
Addressing the media, IGP (Law & Order) Manchak Ishar said a total of eight entry gates will be set up for the event:
1 gate for VVIPs, 1 for VIPs, 6 gates for general visitors.
He said that visitors will not be allowed to carry water bottles or any external items inside the venue.
Traffic management has also been strengthened for crowd control. From seven key points in the city, no-entry routes, parking zones, and no-parking areas will be enforced throughout the programme. Special arrangements have been made for dignitary movement and emergency services.
